In the last few posts I’ve written about the two different sorts of knowing. That which comes from knowing something intellectually, and the other knowing, which comes from doing something.
We teach an entirely different set of principles at Kingdom Calling than most (secular and Christian) financial advisors. Sometimes the things we teach aren’t as romantic or as high flying as the options of others. Occasionally, clients will hear our plans and then decide to do what everyone else is doing. Several times, these same clients have returned, with the realization that what we had discussed would have worked much better. Other times, a client will hear what we are teaching and implement it, but may not see the power in this financial decision until these things actually take shape in their life. That knowledge and understanding come later through implementation and action. A basic understanding of the principles must come first. It would be foolish to move forward with a major decision without an intellectual understanding and then focused prayer. But real understanding is given as we do a thing and the Holy Spirit delivers understanding. This is how we truly grow as a steward: first by seeking wise counsel and studying. Then by applying right principles to our lives; and most importantly in the growth that God gives us through our experience. Jesus said it this way:
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.” – John 16:13-15
Here at Kingdom Calling our role is to help steward you through a process designed for you to grow closer to God in your calling and to grow in wisdom as a steward of all that He has and will give you. We are not a fountain of all-knowing wisdom. We can’t grow you. If you come to us with that expectation, you’ll be let down. But we do teach principles that act as a foundation. If you come to us seeking God with all your heart and mind and endeavor to learn the principles that we are teaching, we have absolute confidence that as you move forward, He will transform you through the renewing of your mind. You will grow as His ambassador in this world in the area that He has called you, and you’ll be ably responsible for the many resources He will trust to you.
