God’s perfect desire is to raise you as His beloved son (no gender implied) that He can impart all his love, grace, power, and responsibility to you.  This has always been His plan.

He placed Adam and Eve in the Garden and gave them His image with the desire to grow them into His Likeness, that they would represent and expand His Glory throughout all of Creation.  When Man determined to go his own way, God’s plan did not change, but was then made possible through His first-born Son Jesus who made a way possible for Man to come back to the Father as adopted sons.  Through Christ, you can be taught and matured in God’s ways and likeness and will be His beloved son sharing perfect love throughout eternity and be entrusted with His family business.

Sonship in the Godhead

God’s ways often can’t be understood with only linear thinking, which is confined by time.  Time, like any other laws or force created by God serves a purpose. Time was created so that death can work out its end in this broken creation.  At the same time, it provides a process for natural lives to develop from a seed to maturity.

God exists in the eternal realm; however, we can only comprehend in sequential order – in the context of time.   However, in the eternal, the end is the beginning, conforms into the beginning, and evolves or increases the beginning, its nature and substance.   Fruits show the glory or the origin of life.  The Son is the seed, but God the Father’s Glory will fill all in all when everything is summed up by the Son.

The Son and His Covenant with the Father

Bearing this in our mind, let us proceed to discuss the following.  God can’t be confined in any form.  Even though He expresses His love, power, wisdom and perfection using names, He forbids Himself to be confined to a form.  He even gave man the privilege to express or represent Him to the visible world. His true intention is never merely for their well being in the natural world.  He had in mind when He created us that Man would be a spiritual entity that would bear the fullness of His Likeness (invisible) as He transforms Man from merely bearing His Image (visible).  Man is destined to rule all that He created, visible or invisible.  Man is to embody or be the tabernacle of God.

God the Father, before He created the whole visible world, envisioned his sons.  It was His intention that Mankind would be a creature able to receive and represent His love.  He is to be glorified in the sight of all creation, even with them in Himself.  For unto Man, He will impute His very being, the fullness of it.  And through His love and fellowship with Man, He will teach us all things.  He desires to create a race of sons, so that He can share his wisdom, love and glory with us.

Paul describes it like this:

Eph 1:4-6 [NIV]
4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.  In love 5he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
