New Video on Home Page

You might have noticed a new look to the website home page – where we’ve added a new video.  If you’ve read this blog for more than a couple weeks, you’re probably aware that we’ve been warning everyone we can about the Coming Storm we will all soon face.  The new video ended up mostly about that, but that wasn’t initially the plan – and I thought you might like to know the back story.

I was introduced to the guys at SunPop a while back as a company with an incredible talent for bringing a candid conversation to life in a short video format.  It seemed like a great way to help people who come to the site, but are only able to get to know me through words, actually begin to know me as a person.   This site is nothing if real lives aren’t impacted and so this seemed like a great idea and I signed on!

But then came the scary part: actually doing the filming.  Jake had me fill out a questionnaire so that he’d get to know Kingdom Calling and me, but then he kept this information from his partner Rex, who would be having the conversation with me – taping all the while.  Jake only supplied Rex with a couple helpful tips so that we’d be sure to talk about anything he felt was key.  They do this so that we would have an authentic and real conversation with nothing scripted.  Filling out paperwork is easy.

It was the first time I’ve done anything like this before.  Rex and I had a conversation that lasted over two hours.   We talked about many different areas of our business and how we work with people, and all sorts of different topics.  And then we were done.  I had just spent over two hours on camera and they were going to splice this into a 2 minute video. (We actually have a 3 minute version also, but thought shorter might be better.  What do you think?)

What would they put on the video?  How would it turn out?  They were going to use any 3 minutes of our conversation to make whatever kind of video that felt best.  This was even more nerve wracking than going in for the shoot!

As it turns out, the parts they felt most interesting were the same issue that I feel is most pressing to get the word out about.   The Coming Storm.  Overall, I think it turned out pretty good.

What do you think?  I’d love to get any feedback on your impressions.  Check it out here.
