We are passing over into a new season! Passover 2020

This Passover season is an extremely important one.  God often moves in waves and seasons and He’s been highlighting many ways in which He has passed a torch from one generation to the next.  We are in precisely this sort of season and this Passover/Firstfruits season is critically important in the timing of God.  If you’re not familiar with these biblical holidays, please read this recent post.

David passed the torch to Solomon.  Elijah passed the torch to Elisha.  Moses passed the torch to Joshua.

Jesus is the torch that will be ignited in this generation.  And this generation will pass this torch mightily to a coming generation that will see God’s kingdom come to completion.  He’s doing these things now and you are invited to be an integral part in what He’s doing today.

Look around you, he’s doing this today!  If you’ve just happened on this blog for the first time, you can read where I talked about the bonfire of judgement & blessing being close at hand in September without having a clue what that would look like and when I said in February that this virus would light the match before it was spreading in the US.  I focused more on the blessing in the September post and the judgement in the February post, but these always come hand in hand.  Judgement upon the world and blessing for God’s remnant people.

God has given us many types and shadows so that we can understand His ways and so we’ll cover several of them to see what they can tell us about God’s plans for today.  There is a saying in finance that the past doesn’t repeat, but it does rhyme.  This can be true of the workings of God.

Hopefully you will see that God shows up and does a new thing quite often throughout the span of history.  You can look back and see how perfectly He fulfilled what He promised.  But the people who were living it never experienced the new way of God as having been long foretold.  For example, the disciples (and all the rest of Israel) did not understand who Jesus was and what He was doing while He was with them.  Looking back it’s obvious how He fulfilled so many prophesies, but you don’t have that perspective in the moment.  Living it out takes an abundance of faith in God to be led step by step.  What if your understanding of “End Times” is not quite correct?  What if instead of looking like whatever you think it’s supposed to look like, it instead rhymes in some ways with some of these past moves of God.  Each time you’ll see that He brought about a greater fullness of His purposes, but you can also quite clearly see that His promises have not come to fulfillment yet.  He clearly has more planned.  Are you willing to submit yourself to His plans?  It will cost you everything, but it will be glorious beyond belief.  Let’s take a look…

David to Solomon

God told David that if he followed after God’s ways, He would bless David with a kingdom which had no end.  David made some horrible mistakes, but he always had a heart for God and His ways so when he was confronted with his sin, he quickly repented and turned back to God.  And God did bless him with the mightiest kingdom around and great wealth.  He won every battle when he was following after God’s ways and was able to pass his kingdom to his son.  His sons did not keep to God’s ways and so the natural kingdom was removed from David, but he will always have the spiritual kingdom/temple being built from/by/through his son Jesus.

Solomon started on the same path as his father, but as time went on, he did not stay on that path.  God ripped the kingdom in two so that his son only kept the smaller portion, but he kept Judah/Benjamin because God planned to honor David.

They each had a covenant with God.  This covenant was basically the same given to Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and more as we’ll see below.  It promised great blessing if they would walk in God’s ways and lead the people of God to follow Him.  It also promised terrible judgement if they should turn away from God’s ways.  Even though David made mistakes and experienced consequences that were terrible to live through, he always turned back to God and God blessed him mightily.  Solomon was given incredible wisdom, wealth, and power, and long life because he gave Himself to God’s purposes early in life.  But all these things led him to live his older age for himself instead of for God and now he’s known as the man who lost the united kingdom.

In passing from father (David) to son (Solomon), Israel also passed from just being a kingdom to also having a temple.  This was David’s plan.  God knew that David’s son Jesus would build the temple, but David didn’t envision that, so he gathered plans and all the massive wealth that was needed to build a truly great natural temple for God to inhabit.

God did not portion it for David to build this temple.  Solomon was given the grace to build the temple.  Solomon could never have done it without David, but he was the one called to do it.  Solomon could never have built the mighty kingdom that David built.  And Solomon was not as great a man as David.  But God apportioned the grace to Solomon to build the temple.  And thus He kept His presence there and confined Godly worship to that place for centuries.

Elijah to Elisha

Elijah walked closely with God.  He is a mighty prophet and pronounced the judgement and blessing of God as one who brought God’s own authority.  He was not a king but was a prophet to the entire nation of Israel.  He appeared to a wicked generation and the first we hear of him; he is pronouncing the judgement of drought/famine on king Ahab and the nation.  But then he brought that judgement specifically upon the prophets of Baal and offered mercy to the nation with rain.  He also offered the mercy of salvation from foreign army destruction.  No king could stand against him.

Elisha received a double portion of the spirit on Elijah.  The scriptures show he was an international prophet when he decreed the fate of foreign kings.  Twice as many miracles are recorded through his prayers as through Elijah’s.  God had Elisha make Jehu king.  Jehu was probably the best of Israel’s many kings and he also brought judgement on the prophets of Baal.

Elisha saw through the prophecies against Jezebel that Elijah had foretold.  They were both old fashioned Judges in a time of kings.  Both stood for God while being impervious to the ways of the world.

Elisha seemingly did all Elijah did and more.  He had the double portion.  Yet it was Elijah who came to represent the prophets on the Mount of the Transfiguration of Jesus.  He was the greater.  Without Elijah, Elisha was just another guy plowing a field.

Both miraculously crossed the Jordan in the same way that Israel did under the leadership of Joshua at Passover…

Moses to Joshua

Moses led the people out of slavery and into freedom.  God invited all the people up His holy mountain so that they could be a kingdom of priests.  But the people were too scared to approach God and sent Moses in their stead.  They never became the people God had planned for them to be, but He had mercy and allowed their waywardness while still intending for something greater to come.

God used Moses to pronounce judgement on Egypt.  The ten plagues hit Egypt and then the people came out free of slavery.  But the people could not get the slavery out of them.  They became orphans.  They were no longer slaves, but unable or unwilling to become like promised sons of God and enter His promised land which God told them He would give to them.

Egypt represents the world in this story to us today and God judged the worldBut the world was still in His people, and it had to be judged in them too and so He did.  Those who could not place their faith in God had to die in judgement in the wilderness.  Only the two who fully trusted in God would make it into the promised land of that generation, and they would lead a new generation who only knew how to live life by trusting in God.  This became God’s remnant people.

Joshua was the leader of this new generation.  God’s way was this new generation’s only way and they took the promised land that God had promised.  They took hold of the promise because there was no looking back.  God’s judgement back that direction was clear, they had to move forward and receive the blessing.

Moses brought the people out of slavery in Egypt beginning on Passover.  Joshua brought the people into the Promised Land on Passover 40 years later.  Moses passed though the Red Sea and Joshua passed through the raging Jordan River just as Elijah and Elisha would do many years later.  God used Moses to make them a people.  He used Joshua to make them an established people who occupied the Promised Land.

Each told the people that if they would follow after God’s ways, He would bless them and that if they didn’t, He would bring judgement against them.

Joshua got the people where Moses could not take them…into the promised land, but Moses was on the Mount of Transfiguration with Jesus.  He was the greater.  Without Moses, Joshua would have grown up a slave in Egypt.

Jesus to the Overcomers in our day

You might think God could have just made everything perfect the way He wants it if you don’t understand what He wants, but then we would all be robots and He’s not interested in that sort of family or kingdom.

Jesus could have done much more than He did, but then He would have failed in submitting to the will of the Father and disqualified Himself the way Adam did.  God’s plan is that He have many sons (male & female) who represent Him to all of creation.  Jesus did exactly what He was supposed to do.  No more and no less.  Perfect submission.  And in this He is the most powerful man to ever live.  This submission to the will of the Father is everything and should be our goal in whatever way He calls each of us.

Each one of us is called to not only reign like Solomon, but build and be an important part of the moveable Temple of God on earth that all might know His wisdom and love.  We are to be the living stones that make a worldwide Temple of God’s glory not only possible but present for all of Creation to see.  Everyone should have access to the love of God, but He does not use just any stone or pillar.  We must allow ourselves to be perfectly cut and shaped to be brought inline with His perfection.

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name.” (Rev 3:12)

Jesus is greater than David, but God is raising up many men & women to be mature sons of God willing to live like Solomon and build the Temple of God with Jesus as the cornerstone.

Each one of us is called to be like Elisha bringing the full wisdom of God even when surrounded by a judged world (Psalm 23).  To be one of the wise who teach many mentioned in Daniel 11:33.  Just as Elijah discipled Elisha, we are called to bring discipleship back to the people of God so that each one is raised up from spiritual infancy to maturity and then again and again as in Malachi 4.  Just as Elisha was used for twice as many miracles as Elijah, Jesus said…”you will do greater things than this.” (John 14:12)

“He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations” (Reve 2:26)

Jesus is greater than Elijah, but God is raising up many men & women to be mature sons of God willing to live like Elisha with the double portion of Jesus within them to do greater things then He did.

Each one of us is called to lead others like Joshua not only to salvation but into the promised land of the Kingdom of God/Heaven that these might form a new generation that fully follows after all the ways of God and walks in all of His blessings.

We are in a season of transition much like Moses and Joshua presided over.  There is much more than being “saved”.  God has never been after a “saved” people.  He let the people He saved out of Egypt die in the wilderness when they refused to put their trust in Him.

He is after a holy (set apart) people that walk in all of His ways.  That are willing to have the world removed from their lives so that they can enter the heavenly promised land now while they are alive.  In this time in history, Egypt (the world) is being judged.  But more than that, Egypt in you (worldliness) will also be judged.  Will you kick and scream against it and die in the wilderness.  Or will you accept that there is only one way forward and in so doing, find out that it is glorious.  That yes, there is pain in having the world & carnal nature in you die, but what is leftover is true life and promise.  That although the giants are scary, when you walk with God, all you have to do is surrender to Him and keep moving where He leads and He will vanquish them for you.  Joshua chose this way when most of his generation went with the crowd (world).

“To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.” (from Rev 2:17)

Jesus is greater than Moses, but God is raising up many men & women to be mature sons of God willing to live like Joshua and lead a new generation to the promised land.

Jesus’ role was to be the firstborn amongst many brothers (Romans 8:29)  He is the Way, the Truth, & the Life.  Just as Solomon, Elisha, & Joshua were impossible without David, Elijah, & Moses.  We are nothing without Christ Jesus.  And yet, it is God’s plan that we do something greater!

He is raising up a generation long prophesied who will volunteer to be all that He enabled us to be (Psalm 24 & 110)

Jesus overcame the world (John 16:33) and now He’s looking for those who are willing to overcome it too and be this generation.  He speaks of blessings and promises 8 times in Revelation alone to those who overcome the world for His purposes.

He is knocking on your door in this hour to volunteer…

”Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. 21 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:20-21)

Who you truly are will be revealed in this new day…

“each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.”  (1 Corinthians 3:13)

This Passover/Firstfruit Season of Today

We are passing over into a New Day/ a new season of God.  The Grace of God is apportioned one way to one and another way to others.  The world is being judged.  He is preserving a remnant people and will glorify Himself through them and bring in a mighty harvest in the years/decades ahead.

Jesus is our Passover Lamb, but we are to pick up our cross and follow Him.  Jesus is the firstfruit (1Cor 15:20-23) and in our day, we are called to be the first fruit of an even greater harvest (James 1:18 & Revelation 14:4).  It’s all a matter of perspective since the work of God is ever expanding.

A father begets a son who becomes a father who begets a son.  This is the multiplication of the family of God.  I previously wrote about Revelation 12 happening in our day and the children mentioned in the last verse are the mighty fathers of harvest to end all harvests.  In this way, the firstfruit becomes the sacrifice for that great harvest.  (John 12:24) There is no greater power than a submitted life unto God.  (see Romans 8 for the life of a firstfruit son of God)

This is all to advance God’s kingdom.  He is bringing and will bring it to fruition.  It’s simply a matter or raising up a people willing to volunteer…

“Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.

And he said to me, “These words are faithful and true”; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place.

“And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who [e]heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.”   (Rev 22:1-7)

This Passover is truly unique.  Two thirds of all the people in the world have been told… “Not one of you shall go out of your house!”  Just as Moses told the Israelites on the very first Passover.  We have a unique opportunity to be still and know that He is God.  To seek Him with all that we are and see what He says to us about these times that we are living in.  Don’t miss this opportunity!  He is doing a mighty work today.

The year 2020 itself signifies a “Double Portion Harvest” as my wife heard the Lord say this week about this Passover season.  The Lord is doing a new and mighty thing just as He did in the Exodus of Moses.  But this one is more spiritual and will only be received by those who are truly open to His new way.

A door is being opened for you to experience His kingdom reality as you never have before if you’re willing to lay down your life for His.

I might have a follow up to this post of a really neat sign, but I need to study that further and then decide whether or not to post.

Final Thoughts

I have thought about updating my post on the virus a couple times since I spoke about it being a big deal without knowing what that would look like, but each time I thought of commenting and I went back and read the original and saw that I had already hinted at these issues coming.  I did post a comment at the bottom of the post a couple weeks back that I believe the virus will not be as big a scare by the end of this month.  We are passing over from the old to the new.  But just as Egypt was judged with 10 different plagues, the judgement on the world will continue.  It is a time where God is making it easier for each one of us to pull our attention away from the world and ask God what is really going on so that He can lead us into true freedom in Christ.  Today we are passing over into a new reality.  Life will never be exactly the same as it was.  It will come differently for different people depending on where each is at in his own heart and life and how each receives it and moves forward.

This ended up being a 3 part series, so I will briefly describe each part for your reference:
