We listened to David and Mike teach, prayed on top of the Temple Mount and then went to the Mount of Olives. The Garden of Gethsemane is pretty amazing because some of these olive trees were actually there when Jesus prayed amongst them. They don’t know exactly where He would have been, but there are trees there over 2,000 years old. They have massive gnarled trunks that look hollowed out on the inside, yet they still have live branches and leaves up top.
The Church of All Nations is there and a few of us went inside to witness a Catholic communion by an Asian Catholic tourist group that was there. I believe one of our group took communion with them. But it’s my understanding that Catholics ask that non-Catholics refrain from taking communion with them, unless you believe that the bread and wine are actually transfigured into the body and blood of Christ. So instead of receiving communion, I sat back and marveled at Jesus’ diverse Body all coming to this Land to worship Him.
Looking from the Mount of Olives at the East Gate of Jerusalem something stands out. Jesus will return to this city triumphantly through that Gate. (Zechariah 14:4-11) as the Mount of Olives is split open (interesting that today we know there is a fault line precisely there!) The principality of the Muslims has tried to stop this by building a cemetery all around this gate. A Kosher Rabbi (which Jesus is) cannot walk through a cemetery, so I guess it is thought that this might keep Him out. But of course, there is no power that can keep Him out!
We spent a long time praying for the Land, for the people, and looking to God for revelation for our own lives to take home with us. It’s a powerful thing to pray to God for direction on how He is calling me in the same place where Jesus prayed to His Father to see if there was any way for Him to go forward other than the Cross!
I don’t want to share too much of my personal time with the Lord here, but He was teaching me further how to rest in Him, how to depend on Him, to make Him my daily bread. He showed me I would have a new boldness and freedom in Kingdom Vision!
God showed me that if I would follow Him and rely on Him for the difficult times, He would lead the way and use me in ways that were beyond me.
