The Father’s Business

As we are first adopted back into the Family of God, we begin to fellowship with Him as a son with his father.  We will live in His love, security and provision.  But more than this, the Father will begin to teach us and impart His Likeness to us.

Do you have an incorrect view of how and why God disciplines us?
Do you have an incorrect view of how and why God disciplines us?

The Father’s heart is to have mature sons, not just infants.   This requires a process.  Let’s look at what Peter has to say about this:

2 Pet 1:3-8 [NIV]

3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

How do you come to maturity?

  1. You must come to have faith and hope in Him.
  2. You have to learn obedience through discipline.

Jesus learned obedience from the things He suffered through and for.  So must you if we are to be like Him.  You have to yield to the Father’s discipline and partake His divine nature, which is love, righteousness, peace, joy, power, mercy and goodness.

The Father’s desire is to have you mature into His being and become worthy of His Name, so that you can reveal and teach the creation of His love, wisdom and justice.

Are you ready for a journey along this path?
